That's actually part of the problem...well not problem, more like troublesome situation. When I realized I couldn't draw worth a lick and that I finally accepted it and turned my focus towards just writing, I think part of me thought it would be easier. Don't get me wrong- it is. In terms of comic book creating, the writing is the easiest part. Ideas formulate, concepts come together and then once the scripting is done on come the visuals. The visuals are your meat. the visuals are the reason you read a comic book instead of a novel. The visuals take the most time and the most discipline to get done and get done right.

So when I finally resigned myself to the art end of things (outside of inks or letters or colors or tones, etc) I thought it would be awesome because that meant I'd be able to work on that many more things at once beCAUSE writing takes less time. The thing that I didn't consider and the thing that I haven't heard any big time writers talk about is this: Being able to take on multiple projects means you DO take on multiple projects. You add post-production stuff and schedules and all that other jazz and the whole thing turns into a giant juggling act.

Certain projects have precedence for personal reasons, others for scheduling conflicts, others because of deadlines and others because of five hundred other reasons. It's nuts. It's really REALLY fun...but it's nuts.


I want everybody to know if my posting seems a little scatterbrained and random, don't think it's stemming from lack of focus. It's coming from multi-focusing. I also want all the fellas that I'm working with to know that everything that you work on with me means a lot to me. Even if you don't hear from me in a while or it seems like I've forgotten you, I haven't. I've rushed things before and they've come out shitty. I've been burned financially and time-wise in the past, so making sure that I get it right is a big priority for me...even if that means postponing a project for a little bit.
